Shooting News

New shooters!

We're very pleased to have a number of new shooters join recently and start shooting with us.  Apologies for the delay in processing the applications - police approval has taken longer due to additional scrutiny across the board.  If you have applied but not yet had your membership approved, please bear with us.  We are finishing an updated new shooter's pack with coaching details, training logs and useful info about other disciplines - these will be handed out to new shooters once complete.  If you have any questions about any aspect of the club or shooting, please ask any of the coaching team.

We will also run a disc shoot once the summer league is over (somewhere around mid August) for our new shooters - this is a fun, fast-paced competition where chalk discs are used as targets and you compete against another shooter to knock the discs off (well, destroy them!) as quickly as possible.  Keep an eye on the noticeboard or ask the coaches for more info!

The top ten shoot off was recently held - disappointingly very few of the top ten shooters entered.  We will be looking to revise the format for next year.  The winner of this year's event was Mike Rowe and the runner-up was Ewan Shimmin,

Summer league is just over half way through with some strong performances across the divisions and teams.  At the top of the pile Thompson and Ramsay keep exchanging highest scores and this week coming (week 8) sees them shooting against each other... In the individual competition Jeremy Baker and Paul Hurworth have shot flawlessly in their divisions, both currently on 14 points from 14.  Great shooting!

Yorkshire / East Yorks / Leeds&district summer postal competitions are well underway across benchrest, prone and lightweight rifle.  Check with the organisers for updates.

Range refurbishment / working parties

When the summer league finishes we will be looking to organise a number of working parties on evenings or weekends to help maintain and improve the shooting facilities.  It is expected that all members should offer to assist where possible - it may be as simple as helping to sort cupboards and storage, or cleaning and repairing the ranges, or building up target frames and backstops.  Please keep an eye on the noticeboards - details will be published when dates are finalised.  You can also let any member of the coaching team know if you want to help.

Comments cards

There is now a comments box with cards in the main range.  We've starting receiving some feedback - many thanks for your comments.  Please keep using this facility if you want us to look at an issue, offer something different or make improvements.  The more feedback we receive, the better we can reflect the needs of the shooters.

SK Standard Plus

Following a request from members, we've ordered a quantity of SK Standard Plus ammo to try alongside our usual offerings.  It is a mid-range round but some shooters have reported excellent results that exceed the price point.  We will update the price lists as soon as they arrive.  Why not give them a try!

Summer League 2017 - Cards are available now!  See 'Scores and Results' menu.  First card due by Tue 16th May.  Teams and divisions are as per the sheet here.
